Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #8

The cover by Michael Del Mundo is a wonderfully inventive piece of design fiction: an "Interplanetary Space-Rifle Association Official Gun-Planet Target" scored with bullet holes punched through colorful, vividly rendered planets, with a crystalline world sitting dead-center in the bullseye. The scorecard at the bottom lists the shooter as "Bucky," the distance as 93,000,000 miles, and the score as "pending" — a deadpan cosmic joke that perfectly captures the series' offbeat, galaxy-spanning sensibility. With Aleš Kot writing and Marco Rudy handling art, inks, and colors on the interior, issue #8 of this 2015 Marvel run promises the same sharp wit and visually adventurous storytelling the series has made its signature.
