This striking cover by John Cassaday forgoes flashy action in favor of something more haunting — a weathered, cracked tombstone-gray design bearing Buck Rogers' dates: "Born 1989, Died 2519." The epitaph-style layout, winged insignia, and the Einstein quote — "I never think of the future. It comes soon enough" — set a quietly ominous tone for "Future Shock Part Three: Ghosts of Mars." With Scott Beatty writing and Carlos Rafael on interior art, Dynamite's 2009 reimagining of the space-faring hero clearly isn't afraid to ask some very grave questions about the man out of time.
