“Race to the South Seas!”

In "Race to the South Seas!", Uncle Scrooge’s sudden disappearance in the South Seas sends Donald and Gladstone racing across the ocean in rival ships, each hoping to find him first. With Carl Barks handling every aspect of the story—from writing and art to inking and lettering—this 1949 adventure blends high-seas tension with classic Barks humor, as luck seems to favor Gladstone while Donald battles one misfortune after another. The cover by Walt Kelly captures the drama of the journey, setting the stage for an unforgettable voyage.

Uncle Scrooge, through his lawyer, give both Gladstone and Donald a sailing ship, and just a few minutes later they learn that Scrooge has been lost in a storm in the South Seas. Both Donald and Gladstone set sail for the islands where Scrooge was last seen, and along the way, Gladstone has nothing but good luck and Donald has nothing but bad.
