Former secretary Dixie takes a job as a night club singer so she can send her ailing mother to "a warmer climate." Jerry breaks up with Dixie as a result. She's consoled by piano player Nick. Jerry comes back but he takes Dixie out of town on dates, fearing his family will find out he's dating "a nightclub singer." Nick introduces Dixie and Jerry to his mother, a member of high society who isn't ashamed of her son's career. Dixie decides Nick is the man she loves.
