“Dead Ted, Part I of II”

In "Dead Ted, Part I of II," Booster Gold’s sudden disappearance sends shockwaves through the superhero community, especially as reports surface of heroes returning as Black Lanterns. With Rip Hunter dispatching Skeets to track him down, Blue Beetle and Skeets follow a trail that leads to Booster’s relative Daniel—only to be ambushed by a Black Lantern version of Blue Beetle. Just as the situation seems hopeless, Booster suddenly reappears, having returned from a haunting visit to the past. Written and illustrated by Dan Jurgens, with cover art by Dan Jurgens and Norm Rapmund, this issue blends time-travel mystery with the rising dread of the Black Lantern threat.

With Booster missing and reports of heroes coming back to life as Black Lanterns, Rip sends Skeets to see if Blue Beetle has any information on the whereabouts of Booster. Booster, however, is actually in the past, re-visiting the funeral of Ted Kord. Skeets and Blue Beetle’s search for Booster takes them to Booster’s relative Daniel, but they are interrupted by Black Lantern Blue Beetle. Daniel quickly changes into his Supernova outfit, but the Black Lantern is much more powerful than Daniel, and has him up against a wall when Booster arrives, having returned from his trip to the past.
