Books of Magic #21

Part of DC's Black Label Sandman Universe line, Books of Magic #21 opens the "Dwelling in Possibility" arc with a cover by Kai Carpenter that's genuinely unsettling in the best way — a shadowy, hooded figure with an eerily featureless dark face looms over a swirling, luminous magical force, multiple clawed hands reaching in from the edges as if drawn to the power. The painterly blues and teals give the image a nocturnal, otherworldly atmosphere that feels right at home in this corner of the DC universe. Writer David Barnett kicks off a new chapter here, with interior art from Tom Fowler and Craig Taillefer and colors by Marissa Louise.
