Part of DC's Sandman Universe line, Books of Magic #11 brings a quietly unsettling mood to its cover, painted by Kai Carpenter: an elderly woman with long silver hair sits against a brick wall, her fingers laced with glowing threads of magic, while a swirl of pigeons bursts into flight around her — and a faint, eerie jack-o'-lantern glow flickers in the shadows behind her. The story within, "No Take Backs," is crafted by writer Kat Howard alongside artists Tom Fowler and Brian Churilla, with colors by Jordan Boyd. It's a beautifully atmospheric issue that perfectly captures the series' sense of wonder edged with something a little dangerous.
