Books of Doom #4
The fourth chapter of this six-issue Marvel limited series finds a cloaked, armored figure looming enormously over a snow-swept landscape, gauntleted hands raised against a pale, wintry sky — a striking image that captures the cold, mythic grandeur surrounding Doctor Doom's origins. Below, a smaller figure bundled against the elements scrambles through the rubble and snow, conveying both desperation and survival in a brutally unforgiving world. Ed Brubaker's story, rendered inside by Pablo Raimondi with inks by Mark Farmer and colors by Brian Reber, is framed here by Paolo Rivera's painterly cover work, which feels more like a brooding oil canvas than a standard superhero image.
