Si Spencer's ambitious Vertigo mystery series reaches its third chapter with a cover by Paul Pope that immediately commands attention — a sharp-eyed young woman in a striped top and goggles-adorned bucket hat stands confidently in the foreground, a Union Jack visible at the lower left and a wary child lurking in the shadow behind her.
