The cover of this second chapter in Garth Ennis and Carlos Ezquerra's 1997 Helix/DC miniseries sets a genuinely unsettling tone: a snarling, bald figure looms enormous in the foreground, arms outstretched as if to engulf everything, while a white-haired woman stands her ground in the middle distance against a backdrop of burning city skyline. Ezquerra's linework gives the threat a visceral, almost feral energy that makes the lone figure's defiance feel all the more charged. If this issue's cover is any measure, "Lady Liberty" is shaping up to be a tense, gritty ride.
