Don Perlin and Ralph Reese deliver one of 1994's more memorably absurd cover images: Bloodshot — shirtless, battered, and wrapped in Christmas lights complete with a red bow — hangs from a utility pole in a snow-dusted urban neighborhood, a stray dog sniffing around below him while a bar-and-grill Santa peeks from the window behind. It's a darkly comic holiday tableau that captures Valiant's knack for grounding superhuman characters in gritty, street-level settings. "Sins of the Father" promises that whatever brought Bloodshot to this festive predicament, the story inside is anything but merry.
