Blood of the Demon #14

The cover of Blood of the Demon #14 makes a striking impression: Etrigan surges forward with both fists blazing with hellfire, set against a backdrop of crumbling stone and ruin, while a massive, anguished stone-like face looms to his left and enormous grasping hands close in on either side. It's a visually charged composition from John Byrne, whose pencils and inks deliver both raw power and an unsettling sense of something ancient threatening to swallow the Demon whole. Arriving as part of DC's "One Year Later" initiative in 2006, this issue — titled "This Painful Existence" — promises the kind of dark, mythological tension that makes Etrigan one of DC's most compelling figures.
