Blood of the Demon #12

The tagline says it all — "New foes arise to spill the Blood of the Demon" — and John Byrne's cover for issue #12 delivers on that promise with a chaotic, crowded scene of winged angel-like warriors descending sword-first on a group of civilians and costumed figures caught in the middle. The sweeping wings, enormous blades, and panicked crowd create a genuine sense of threat and scale that sets a tense, dramatic tone for "Wrath of the Lamb." With Byrne also handling interior art alongside writer Will Pfeifer, this 2006 DC series was clearly firing on all cylinders as it headed into its final stretch.
