Blood and Water #4
"Consequences" in Blood and Water #4 (2003) delivers a raw, emotionally charged turn as Adam and Nicole confront the aftermath of Joshua’s murder, a death that shakes the fragile peace among immortal vampires. With a gathering of the ancient bloodline summoned to mourn, the unexpected arrival of Malcolm sends shockwaves through the assembly—especially when Adam stands his ground against the elder vampire, igniting a confrontation that forces them to face the true threat: a long-dormant order awakened by Joshua’s death. Written by Judd Winick and illustrated with striking intensity by Tomm Coker, the issue’s moody atmosphere is heightened by Jason Wright and Sno Cone’s colors and Kurt Hathaway’s sharp lettering, all framed by Brian Bolland’s haunting cover.

Joshua has been murdered by an unknown assailant and immortal vampires are usually incredibly hard to kill. Adam and Nicole meet with a gathering of vampires to destroy Josh's body and mourn his loss and everyone is surprised when Malcolm joins the throng. Adam mouths off to the ancient vampire and gets swatted but gets up and swats Malcolm right back. The rest of the vampires scatter as this old and bestial order of vampires have been awakened to come after their own. Adam and Nicole decide to fight The Tribe as they were surely responsible for the death of Joshua.
