Blood and Water #3

The third chapter of Vertigo's five-part mature-readers series Blood + Water arrives with a cover by Brian Bolland that's hard to look away from — a leering, blood-flecked figure dominates the frame, his unsettling grin front and center against a vivid green background, while two cooler, sunglasses-wearing figures stand below, each holding a coffee cup with studied calm. The contrast between that manic close-up and the detached pair beneath it sets a wonderfully uneasy tone that writer Judd Winick and artist Tomm Coker carry throughout this series. If you've been following along, issue #3 — subtitled "The Last Day of the Rest of Your Life" — promises to keep the tension wound tight.
