“V3s”

In "V3s," Blade confronts a shocking twist when the woman he’s just been with—Susan—reveals herself as the Tryk queen in disguise. As he infiltrates her hidden baths, the truth unfolds: the leader of the Seven has been manipulating him all along. With the Tryk lair in ruins and the pregnant queen fleeing, the Seven abruptly shifts course, lifting their assassination order and granting Blade free rein. Written by Christopher Hinz and illustrated by Steve Pugh, with colors by Atomic Paintbrush and letters by Richard Starkings and Comicraft, this issue’s cover by Tim Bradstreet captures the tension with striking precision.

After Blade has sex with Susan, he finds out that she has been the Tryk queen in disguise all along. Blade enters the queen's baths, but does not change so he realizes the leader of the Seven was manipulating him. Blade destroys the Tryk lair, but the now-pregnant queen escapes. Realizing the Tryk numbers have been so thinned by Blade, the Seven countermands its previous directive to assassinate Blade and let him have a free hand in the field.
