The final issue of this 2007 Marvel series goes out with its chin up and a knowing wink — the cover, by Marko Djurdjević, stamps a bold "CANCELED!" banner across a moody, crimson-tinged composition featuring Blade armed and intense in the foreground, a suited figure delivering a pointed "I'll be back, baby!" in the middle ground, and a distant silhouette whispering "Good bye world…" The speech bubbles and self-aware humor transform what could have been a somber send-off into something genuinely charming. Marc Guggenheim, Howard Chaykin, and Gene Colan close out their run on "A Stake Through the Heart" — a title that feels perfectly chosen for the occasion.
