Blackhawk #88

This May 1955 Quality Comics issue pits the Blackhawk squad against a truly formidable threat: Thunder the Indestructible, a super-powered villain in a red costume and spiked helmet who is literally hoisting a full battle tank overhead with his bare hands while soldiers scatter in every direction. The cover by Dick Dillin and Chuck Cuidera is wonderfully chaotic — a Blackhawk member grapples with Thunder at center stage, bullets spark harmlessly off the brute, a monkey-like creature menaces the background, and a cityscape with the Eiffel Tower burns amid more tank fire.
