The cover by Gill Fox says it all — Blackhawk and his blue-uniformed squad leap from a red boat straight into danger, while a menacing armed figure in red waits to cut them off, with the scroll banner below warning of "Betrayal!" and the team trapped in the Forbidden City of Dabat. Framing the action are the familiar portrait medallions of the full Blackhawk roster, a cheerful reminder of the whole colorful crew assembled for this 1950 Quality Comics adventure. Fifty-two full-width pages for a dime made this a genuinely satisfying read, and that cover energy alone makes it easy to see why the series kept readers coming back.
