The whole Blackhawk squadron — seven members in their signature blue uniforms plus their grinning little mascot Chop-Chop — poses confidently in front of a sleek red-and-blue fighter jet, making for one of the most team-spirited covers Quality Comics put out in 1949. Reed Crandall's crisp linework gives every figure a distinct personality, from the mustachioed elder statesman on the left to the hawk-emblazoned leader at center. The scroll teaser promises Blackhawk "defies destruction in the Battle of the Test Tubes," hinting at a science-tinged adventure worthy of the squad's fearless reputation.
