From 1966, this DC adventure pits the Blackhawk squadron against what the cover bills as threats meant to destroy the "Magnificent 7" — and the menace looks formidable. Dick Dillin and Charles Cuidera's cover art splits the action across two vivid panels: above, Blackhawk urgently warns teammates Olaf and Stan away from a towering, spider-like mechanical monster bristling with claws; below, another red-uniformed squad member is sent flying with a cry of "Yaa-a-a-ah!" Bob Haney's "Vengeance of the Doom Makers" promises the kind of globe-trotting, high-stakes action the title thrived on — and a bonus Stanislaus solo story in his "Detached Service Diary" rounds out the issue nicely.
