Dick Dillin's pencils and Sheldon Moldoff's inks give the creature a genuinely unsettling half-petrified appearance, while the fighters below — including a woman among their ranks — dodge sparking weapons fire with a downed aircraft nearby. This September 1963 DC issue is a fine example of the adventure-packed storytelling that kept Blackhawk a staple of Silver Age comics fans.
