From DC's April 1962 run of Blackhawk comes issue #171, featuring the story "The Human Menagerie" and the cover tale "The Secret of Alien Island!" Dick Dillin and Charles Cuidera's cover puts the tension right up front: Blackhawk, dressed in a matching red-and-purple alien uniform, is dramatically unmasked by a green-skinned extraterrestrial who declares he's seen through the disguise — while Blackhawk's teammates remain locked behind bars in a cage to the left. It's a sharp, suspenseful setup that captures the series' flair for globe-trotting (and apparently galaxy-trotting) adventure at its entertaining best.
