A massive pirate-flagged airship dominates the skyline on Alex Ross's painted cover, its skull-and-crossbones emblem glowing an eerie green against the night city below. The Black Terror himself leaps from the ornate vessel, red cape streaming, while a churning mass of pale, ghostly figures surges across the right side of the image in a genuinely unsettling display of supernatural menace.
