“The Nanosecond the Earth Stood Still”

In "The Nanosecond the Earth Stood Still," Amber Hunt becomes the unlikely guardian of reality when the Ego gem bonds with her, thrusting her into an alternate Los Angeles ruled by Warstrike and Necromantra. With the Time gem as her only hope, she races through a fractured timeline to prevent the collapse of the universe—just as the first wave of Nemesis’s explosion slips through, irrevocably changing the Ultraverse. Written by Chris Ulm, Phil Crain, Dan Danko, Roland Mann, and Jerald DeVictoria, with art by M. C. Wyman, Keith Conroy, Steven Butler, and Gabriel Gecko, and cover by Kurtis Fujita, this pivotal issue redefines the stakes of the Infinity Gems saga in a moment that echoes across all realities.

The Infinity gems have been split and Nemesis has exploded into waves of energy that threaten to destroy the universe. The Ego gem attaches to Amber Hunt and asks for her help in recovering the Time gem so they can fix things. She makes her way to an alternate reality where Warstrike and Necromantra rule Los Angeles with an iron hand. She recovers the Time gem and heads back to the nanosecond after the Infinity gems split. As Nemesis explodes, Amber absorbs the waves of energy that are released and saves the cosmos. The first wave, however, gets through and transforms the Ultraverse forever.
