Black Lightning: Year One #3

Part three of DC's 2009 limited series finds Black Lightning channeling a blazing sphere of electricity alongside a crouching Superman, the two heroes united against a towering, shadow-draped figure with enormous clawed hands looming ominously above them. Cully Hamner's cover crackles with electric energy, the cool blue palette making those lightning bolts feel genuinely dangerous. Writer Jen Van Meter and artist Hamner are midway through this six-part origin story, and the stakes clearly couldn't be higher.
