Issue eleven of Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston's Black Hammer: Age of Doom presents a striking visual contrast: a massive, masked figure in gold and green — wings spreading behind his throne, eagle-headed armrests flanking him on either side — looms over a small but resolute woman clutching a hammer at the base of his dais.
