Black Fury #40

The main story depicts Black Fury, the normally friendly stallion, mysteriously attacking a homesteader and his family after being roped by a cowboy named Tex. The comic reveals that Black Fury was driven to fight after Tex lassooed him and tied the rope around his neck, causing the horse to resist in self-defense. The issue also includes a backup text story titled "Sheriff Slidell" featuring a western tale narrated by former sheriff Joe Slidell about a man named Jack Folkson who turned to crime after his sweetheart's father disapproved of his prospects.
