Black Fury #36

Few comics capture raw animal tension quite like this 1962 Charlton entry — the cover by Dick Giordano puts the magnificent black stallion Black Fury in a dramatic face-off with a snarling mountain lion perched atop a rocky ledge, the fiery orange sky charging the whole scene with a wild, untamed energy. The Wonder Horse looks every bit the formidable force he's billed as, rearing and defiant against a worthy adversary. With interior work by Joe Gill and Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio and a story titled "The Death Flood," issue #36 promises an adventure as bold as its cover.
