A canyon ambush explodes across Charles Biro's cover for this May 1952 entry in Lev Gleason's frontier series, with Black Diamond riding hard on his chestnut horse while a rider tumbles from his mount below and two more cowboys scramble on horseback to the right — one of them exclaiming, "We've got him Trapp… what in tarnation…" Three feature-length illustories are packed inside, including Carl Wessler's "Strange Saga of the Missing Express Riders," promising plenty of western intrigue at just ten cents. Biro's dynamic linework gives the whole scene a breathless, dust-kicking energy that captures frontier action at its most vivid.
