In "Black Diamond and the Railroad War," Black Diamond attempts to stop a train loaded with dynamite whose bridge ahead is down, working to prevent disaster to the women and children aboard. In "Can Reliapop Save Black Diamond's Identity from Being Revealed?," a character's boss suspects Black Diamond's true identity and devises a plan to discover it by sending Black Diamond on a dangerous errand, forcing him to take precautions to protect his secret. The issue also includes a reader voting contest asking fans to select their favorite "Wise Guy" character from Daredevil Magazine, with various prizes offered including a Schwinn bicycle, sports uniforms, and other items.
In 1860, as the railroad pushes across the open range, cattleman Cash Harding leads violent raids against the railroad workers, convinced that progress will destroy the ranching way of life—unaware that the Black Diamond rides to settle the conflict. When words fail to sway Harding from his destructive path, the masked marshal must outmaneuver a desperate man bent on war, with his faithful horse Reliapon at his side.
Scout Ted Atkins and Colonel George Lane are on the trail of two ruthless outlaw gangs—"Cock-Eyed" Munson and "Chuck" Hoggs—who've been preying on wagon trains throughout the Ohio Valley from their hideout at Cave Inn. When the rival pirates finally join forces to ambush a travel party, their uneasy partnership threatens to tear itself apart, setting the stage for a desperate confrontation that could seal the fate of everyone caught in the crossfire.
When a lowlife named Slade attempts to blackmail his way into a fortune by claiming he knows the Black Diamond's secret identity, he sets off a chain of events that puts the masked marshal and everyone close to him in grave danger. Balso, the town's ruthless political boss, sees an opportunity to eliminate his greatest obstacle and orchestrates a kidnapping to draw the Black Diamond into a trap. Racing against time with his loyal palomino Reliapon at his side, the Black Diamond must fight his way out of an ambush that threatens to unmask him forever—but survival may come at a cost he never expected.
