Black Bolt #3

Saladin Ahmed and Christian Ward's 2017 series continues with an arresting image: Black Bolt charges forward in full costume alongside two alien-looking companions, all three sprinting urgently through a surreal, stripe-patterned corridor. Looming above them — massive, chained, and hooded with only a toothy purple mouth visible — is a menacing overseer figure who dominates the upper half of the cover. Ward's psychedelic color work and otherworldly design make this one of the more visually striking sci-fi prison stories Marvel was publishing that year.
