Birds of Prey #27

Part three of DC's "Officer Down" crossover lands here, and the cover by Durwin Talon sets a gripping crime-scene mood — a young woman crouches over a chalk body outline on a city street, studying what appear to be evidence markers, while a heavyset man in a trench coat and fedora stands over her and two other figures loom in the background. The muted oranges and teals give the whole scene a tense, noir-inflected atmosphere that feels right at home in Gotham. Chuck Dixon scripts, with interior art from N. Steven Harris and John Nyberg, making this a solid chapter in one of 2001's most compelling Batman-adjacent storylines.
