Billy the Kid is haunted by a ghost of his own name who has been robbing and killing along the stagecoach trail. Billy hires himself out as a decoy with a shipment of gold to trap the outlaw ghost, but discovers the ghost is actually the criminal Falk, who stages an elaborate scheme involving a double-cross with an accomplice named Deuce to steal the gold and murder Billy. After Billy thwarts Falk's plan and defeats the ghost outlaw in a series of confrontations, he pursues the remaining criminals across the desert landscape, eventually cornering them and bringing the scheme to an end.
