When Billy the Kid, known as Bonney, is captured rather than killed, he must navigate the valley’s perilous politics and Diablo’s cruel deception to free the enslaved and bring justice to the land.
In "The Flying Death," Jo Bonney—wounded and enslaved in the mines—faces a grim fate when Diablo sentences him to be fed to vultures. Trapped and watched by guards, Bonney’s final moments seem sealed, but the other slaves rise in a sudden, desperate uprising. As Diablo flees with his ravenous birds, Bonney knows the real danger may not be the vultures—but what comes after.
In the isolated frontier outpost of Billy the Kid #69, the fugitive Pike McGinty escapes custody and takes refuge in the modest river shack of Clem and Clarissa Nerd. As Clarissa frantically sends an SOS from the window, her actions draw the attention of Marshal Ames and the relentless Bounty Hunter. With the law closing in, McGinty seizes the Nerds as hostages, forcing the Marshal into a desperate standoff. When Shawn plunges into the river and undermines the shack’s foundation, the structure collapses into the current—sending the outlaws scrambling and setting off a tense chase through the water.
