The cover features Uncle Slap Happy playing submarine in the water when he encounters a real United States Navy ship. The main story, "Big Shot," follows a man named Mr. Shipley who takes his girlfriend Dixie out for an evening of entertainment including dinner and theater; however, their night is interrupted when spies attempt to extract secret information about a healing diathermy wave device from him, resulting in a physical altercation. After the confrontation, Shipley is revealed to be a secret agent working for Mr. Barnett, and he must recover stolen plans related to the device while navigating the competing interests of enemy operatives seeking the same intelligence.
