“L'invasion des hommes joyaux”

In "L'invasion des hommes joyaux," Adam Strange returns to Rann after a mission at Lake Makadi, unaware that Jakarta, the last of the Dust Devils, has stowed away in his holster from Rhynthar. With Zeta radiation fading, the pair are pulled back to Earth, where Jakarta sets his sights on conquering Melbourne—only to be thwarted by Adam’s quick thinking and a Wimshurst Machine. Written by Gardner Fox and illustrated by Carmine Infantino with inks by Murphy Anderson, this 1979 adventure blends cosmic intrigue with a clever scientific twist, all captured in a striking cover by Dick Dillin.

Adam Strange intercepts the Zeta Beam at Lake Makadi, Tanganyica, Africa and returns to Rann, unknowingly carrying Jakarta, the last surviving Dust Devil, who had hidden in Adam's holster on the planet Rhynthar (see Mystery in Space #68). Seeking revenge, Jakarta attacks Ranangar. The Zeta radiation wears off and returns the pair to Earth, which the dust devil also plans to conquer, near Melbourne, Australia. Adam discovers that static electricity can freeze Jakarta, traps him with a Wimshurst Machine (which discharges electricity) and then turns the Dust Devil over to Australian authorities.
