En 1459, tras tres días de batalla Drácula cae frente a los turcos. Turac decide salvarle la vida para controlar el país y lo lleva a Lianda, la cual le convierte en vampiro. Drácula se reencuentra con su esposa y a su hijo a los que Turac utiliza como rehenes. Drácula accede a gobernar por ellos en nombre del imperio turco y se disculpa a su esposa. Turac intenta llevársela con él para violarla, pero Maria se resiste y cae, golpeándose la cabeza y muere. Drácula se libera, se revela como un vampiro y mata a Turac. Se convierte en murciélago llevándose a su hijo y lo confía a unos gitanos.
