Wanting the students to try something different, the faculty switch the students' first period elective to something they're unfamiliar with. Veronica is enrolled in "Domestic Living" while Betty is signed up for "Corporate Business". Both girls struggle in their assigned electives: Betty has to make hard business decisions including layoffs, presentations and mergers, while Veronica deals with carpentry, cooking and car engine repair.
