“Suffering Suffragettes”

Veronica Lodge is apparently packing light — if your idea of "light" is a towering cart of monogrammed luggage that's practically crushing a frantic bellhop — on this cheerful December 2000 cover by Dan DeCarlo and Henry Scarpelli. Standing at the airline reservations counter near Gate 12, Veronica reassures a skeptical Betty that she'll "only be gone a few days," and the gap between those two perspectives is written all over their faces. It's a perfectly warm slice of Riverdale comedy that captures the girls' contrasting personalities with the easy charm that made this series such a delight.
