In the war-torn village of Motang-Po, Chensu, once loyal to the US forces, turns against them after the Chinese occupation. When he leads a scouting mission, he discovers the deadly fate of his fellow scouts and returns to find the Chinese executing innocent villagers. Haunted by his choice, Chensu makes a desperate stand, stealing grenades to destroy the enemy forces entrenched in the temple, sacrificing himself in the process. The villagers rebuild the temple, unaware of his final act of redemption—believing him a traitor to the end.
