Batman: Unseen #3

Batman finds himself at a severe disadvantage on Kelley Jones's unsettling cover for issue three of this five-part 2010 DC miniseries — a partially visible, goggled villain looms above the Dark Knight, wire garrote drawn tight, taunting him with a chilling speech bubble: "Open your eyes, Batman, it's time for you to die!" The tagline "The Transparent Terror Strikes Again!" says everything you need to know about what kind of threat Doug Moench and Jones are cooking up in "Part 3: Ghost-Killer." Jones's trademark exaggerated anatomy and swirling, hypnotic background give the whole image a genuinely eerie energy that fits the series' invisible-menace premise perfectly.
