Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #160

Batman dominates this moody, blue-drenched cover by Jason Pearson, crouching mid-leap against a Gotham cityscape while a swarm of what appear to be batarangs or shrapnel bursts explode outward below him — all shadow, tension, and controlled menace. "Loyalties," part two of three, promises the middle chapter of a story that writer John Ostrander and artist David López are clearly building toward something consequential. It's a striking 2002 entry in the long-running Legends of the Dark Knight series, with Pearson's cover setting an appropriately atmospheric tone for whatever pressures are closing in on the Dark Knight.
