Batman: Gotham Adventures #53

Poison Ivy looms large — literally — as her enormous, smirking face dominates the background while Batman struggles against a tangle of aggressive vines threatening to drag him down. A second image of Ivy appears on a screen behind him, suggesting her influence is everywhere at once, and the animated style rendered by cover penciler Bob Smith and inker Terry Beatty gives the whole scene a wonderfully kinetic, Saturday-morning energy. With writer Scott Peterson and artist Tim Levins delivering a story titled "Green Mind," this 2002 installment promises a battle of wills between the Dark Knight and one of Gotham's most dangerously captivating villains.
