Batman: Gotham Adventures #5

Mr. Freeze dominates the foreground of this 1998 Batman: Gotham Adventures cover, cold-eyed and pistol in hand, while the shattered, icy composition behind him sends Batman, Batgirl, and a scattering of other Gotham figures tumbling in every direction. Ty Templeton's cover work captures the clean, animated-series aesthetic perfectly, with that stark purple-and-black armor making Freeze an unmistakable centerpiece. "Polar Opposites" promises exactly the kind of chill confrontation the cover delivers, and with Templeton writing alongside Rick Burchett and Terry Beatty on interior art, this issue is a fine example of the series hitting its stride.
