Batman: Gotham Adventures #43

An unlikely duo takes center stage on this December 2001 issue of Batman: Gotham Adventures, as Batman and Harley Quinn find themselves back-to-back, surrounded on all sides by a mob of hulking, clawed creatures wielding bats, guns, and bladed weapons. The cover — penciled by Bob Smith and inked by Terry Beatty — captures a wonderfully tense moment, with a wide-eyed Harley clinging to a very determined Dark Knight while chaos closes in from every direction. Scott Peterson, Tim Levins, and Terry Beatty bring their sharp animated-series sensibility to "Turnabout," and if the cover is any indication, this is one of those delightful issues where enemies have no choice but to work together.
