Batman crashes through a wooden door in an explosion of splinters and glass shards, landing hard on a checkered floor to confront a trench-coated figure clutching a gun — while a wide-eyed kid in green scrambles away in the background. This October 1999 issue of Batman: Gotham Adventures captures the animated series' clean, kinetic style perfectly, with cover art penciled by Bob Smith and inked by Terry Beatty. The story "Daddy Dearest" promises some charged family dynamics to go along with all that door-smashing action.
