Batman - De cultus #[nn]
In "null," Batman, unbroken by Deacon Blackfire's mind-altering drugs, fights his way back to the villain’s sewer lair only to be captured. As Blackfire orders his men to execute him in the bathing room, Batman escapes and vanishes into the dark tunnels below. Robin eventually locates him atop a mound of corpses, silent and resolute.
In "null," Batman and Robin navigate a Gotham City on the brink, where Deacon Blackfire's army of the homeless has driven the National Guard from the streets and forced the Governor to recommend an evacuation. With the city's remaining citizens barricaded and snipers in the sewers, Batman struggles to recover from a harrowing ordeal beneath the city, his focus frayed. When Robin reaches out for help, the Dark Knight must pull himself back from the edge—just in time to lead the boy hero to safety. As they emerge from the tunnels, Batman makes a final decision: they’re leaving Gotham, and not coming back.
In "null," Batman confronts the twisted faith of Deacon Blackfire, a man who sees death as divine fulfillment. As he and Robin return to Gotham, Batman must face not just Blackfire’s fanatic followers, but the deeper truth behind his own purpose—realizing he became the Batman not to avenge his parents, but to overcome fear itself.
