Batman Beyond #4

The future's Dark Knight faces something deeply unsettling in Bernard Chang's cover for this 2017 DC Universe Rebirth installment — Batman stands with his back to us in a chaotic, graffiti-covered room, confronted by the leering, wall-spanning face of the Joker surrounded by walls plastered with manic "HAHAHA" scrawl. The blood-red question "What is the Joker's Deadly Secret?" looms over the scene, turning the entire environment into a taunting message aimed squarely at our hero. Dan Jurgens and Pete Woods bring real tension to this Rebirth series, and issue #4 makes it clear that even in the future, the Clown Prince of Crime casts a very long shadow.
