Kicking off a four-part Batman epic, this 1998 DC miniseries puts the massive, masked Bane front and center — looming large against a globe-spanning world map, fist raised and body streaked with blood, projecting raw menace and global ambition. Graham Nolan's pencils, inked here by Bill Sienkiewicz, give the villain a commanding physical presence that fills the cover with coiled, dangerous energy. Writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan clearly have big plans for Bane, and this first issue sets an immediate, striking tone for wherever the story is headed.
